Himmatwala is an upcoming Hindi film directed by Sajid Khan. The film has Ajay Devgn and Tamannaah in the lead roles. It is the remake of the 1983 blockbuster Himmatwala which itself was a remake of a Telugu film Ooriki Monagadu of 1981. Ajay Devgn had already been signed by Sajid as the male protagonist of the film. It was earlier reported that director Sajid Khan was apparently in talks with actresses Asin Thottumkal, Jacqueline Fernandez, Katrina Kaif, Anushka Shetty, Anushka Sharma and Deepika Padukone for the female lead. However, it was later confirmed that Telugu-Tamil actress Tamannaah would make her Bollywood debut as she was signed as the female lead, thus stepping into Sridevi's shoes.
